Cordyceps Sinensis

A P Nutripharm's Cordyceps Sinensis
The technology and process of the man-cultivated Cordyceps vary greatly from different manufacturers with three main concerns such as:

  1. whether the Cordyceps strain is well preserved;
  2. whether the sufficient nutrients are provided to grow the Cordyceps mycelium as what happens to natural growth of wild Cordyceps is that the insect flesh provides the fungus the high values of the nutrients in proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals; and
  3. whether the condition of the pure fungal culture of how Cordyceps fungus grows in the inner body of bat moths, is applied in the man-cultivated system to eliminate the growth of the unwanted species.
To determine the existence and the concentration of the bio-markers or fingerprint compounds is the way to make sure the quality of the man-cultivated Cordyceps in protection of the  consumers’ interest. This study as an initial effort, analyzed the Cordycepin (3’-deoxyadenosine) and Adenosine from different cultivated Cordyceps products to benchmark that of the top grade of wild Cordyceps.

CORDYCEPIN  (3’-DEOXYADENOSINE)
Cordycepin, a unique compound in wild Cordyceps, has not been found in any other species. Thus, Cordycepin is a bio-marker for Cordyceps sinensis. Cordycepin, on the other hand, is a bio-active compound with antitumor and anti-pathogenic activities. Cordycepin functions as a nucleoside analog of normal building bloc of DNA,2’-deoxyadenosine, having the ability to confuse the DNA synthetic enzyme - Terminal Deoxynucleotidyl Transferase (TdT). Cordycepin has broad applicability for both cancer and infectious disease markets.
